Appoint new SPP in Jayalalithaa case: DMK

December 27, 2014 02:25 am | Updated 02:25 am IST - CHENNAI:

DMK general secretary K. Anbazhagan has written to the Karnataka Chief Secretary seeking appointment of a new Special Public Prosecutor in the Karnataka High Court against the appeals filed by the former Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, and others in the disproportionate wealth case.

Mr. Anbazhagan claimed that the “conduct of the present public prosecutor Bhavani Singh at every stage of the case has proved to be of someone who is willing to be disposed at the dictates of the accused persons.”

“He does not seem to take any firm stand on any issue which may affect the cause of the accused persons. He had appeared in the bail applications before the High Court without any special order,” said Mr Anbazhagan, who also sent a similar letter to the Law Secretary of the Karnataka government.
