Terming the State Government's decision to form an expert committee to weigh the pros and cons of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project “pro-people and democratic,” the anti-KKNPP struggle committee has welcomed Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's announcement in this regard.

When contacted for his views on the Chief Minister's announcement, the struggle committee convener S.P. Udayakumar said that the Central Expert Panel on KKNPP, which was formed with the prime objective of allaying fears and dispelling apprehensions of the local community, never met the target group in a bid to accomplish its goal.

“Pro-democratic, pro-people”

“At the same time, the State government has decided to form an expert panel with the same objective, which is a democratic and pro-people decision. We wholeheartedly welcome the Chief Minister's decision.”
