Anti-social detained under Goondas Act

He is in jail in a murder case

The Cuddalore police have detained M. Arul alias Arul Pandian, 27, a notorious anti-social under the Goondas Act. He, along with five others, were arrested on charge of murdering Ravichandran, 45, a hotel owner, in Vadalur in May for refusing to pay the gang.

The Vadalur police had arrested Prem, Sathish and Vinodh while the main accused Arul Pandian and Kavi alias Kaviarasan surrendered before the Parangipettai Judicial Magistrate court. Arul Pandian had been lodged in the Cuddalore Central Prison. He was involved in seven attempt to murder cases, extortion and robbery cases in Mangalampettai, Mandarakuppam and Neyveli Thermal police stations.

Following a recommendation by Superintendent of Police C. Vijayakumar, District Collector T.P. Rajesh on Wednesday ordered the detention of Arul Pandian under the Goondas Act. In the past six months, 37 anti-social elements have been detained in Cuddalore district.
