The government on Saturday appointed Anoop Jaiswal, a 1980-batch IPS officer, as DGP (Elections). Mr. Jaiswal would attend to election-related work.

All officers handling election duty were directed to report only to Mr. Jaiswal till the completion of the election process, an official release said.

Police sources said Mr. Jaiswal, who was DGP/Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation, was transferred and posted as DGP (Elections) on the instructions of the EC. However, DGP (Law and Order) K. Ramanujam would continue in the same post.
