Anna medals announced

Months ago, S. Subash Srinivasan, Head Constable, Special Branch, CID, Ramanathapuram district, while on duty, rescued a woman and three year old girl child after they fell into a well at Devipattinam.

He is one of the four recipients of this year’s Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Gallantry Medal. Anna Medal, which recognises devotion to duty.

The others are: D. Jayachandran, Leading Fireman, Chennai Suburban Division, Avadi, who saved a person trapped in a well at Pattabiram; M. Dakshinamoorthy, retired Divisional Officer and D. Anand, Assistant Divisional officer, Krishnagiri Division who rescued a 3 year-old boy after he fell into an abandoned 520 feet dry borewell in Thenkanikottai.

Besides, a total of 127 uniformed service personnel will be presented the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Anna Medal, which recognises devotion to duty, this year.

A total of 100 police personnel, 10 Fire and Rescue Service personnel, 10 Prison Service personnel, 5 Home Guards personnel and two Deputy Superintendents of Police in Finger Print Science will be awarded the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Anna Medal. Chief Minister will present the medals in a ceremonial medal parade to be held in due course, the release said.
