The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed Nellore district police authorities to exhume the body of a man and get post-mortem conducted again on it by a senior doctor of the General Hospital, Chennai, at the earliest.

Justice R. Kantha Rao passed the order on a petition by D.C. David of Royapuram here.

The petitioner submitted that his son D.C. Raj Kumar alias Anthony Raj Kumar (30) went missing on March 23. On receiving information, he and his daughter rushed to Mangalapuram and found his son's body. The local police claimed that Raj Kumar had fallen into a ditch and drowned.

Mr. David submitted that he noticed several bleeding injuries on the body.

The post-mortem was conducted around 9.30 p.m. on March 25 without his knowledge.

Later, the body was brought to Chennai and buried at the Kasimedu burial ground. The petitioner said his son was a swimmer and had won several prizes. It was difficult to believe that he had drowned that, too, in shallow waters.

He believed that his son was murdered. But, the post-mortem report had not cited any injury.

Mr. Justice Kantha Rao said if at all there were any injuries on the body, still they could be noticed because the petitioner's contention was that some serious injuries had been caused.

To unearth the real facts leading to the death, the petitioner's prayer could be accepted.
