PMK youth wing leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Tuesday asked how the standard of school education would improve in Tamil Nadu when there were no teachers in schools. In a statement, Mr. Anbumani said that it was condemnable that the State government, which keeps saying that it wants to improve school education, had not done anything to appoint teachers.

“Around 918 high school and higher secondary schools are functioning without headmasters. In 884 high schools, the headmasters have not been appointed for more than two years. With the government upgrading 100 high schools as higher secondary schools and 150 middle schools as high schools, around 950 high schools have been functioning without headmasters,” he pointed out.

Around 1,640 teacher vacancies in higher secondary schools and 2,405 vacancies in high schools are still vacant. “In the month of May, the total number of vacancies will increase to 10,000. There has been no effort to fill these vacancies,” he added. Meanwhile, PMK founder Dr. S. Ramadoss on Monday opposed any re-test to choose teachers for polytechnic colleges.
