Nattarmangalam village panchayat created a record of sorts by electing all women candidates to the local body, including the post of panchayat president and nine ward members.

Despite the village being a general constituency, all representatives elected unopposed happen to be women.

Even before the election schedule was announced, villagers convened a meeting and took a decision to elect women members for all nine wards and also a woman panchayat president. The panchayat, having 750 families with a total population of about 2,500, comprises a majority of Dalits followed by Vanniyars, Mudaliars and Pillais. Those who have been elected unopposed are: panchayat president – Sudha Manirathnam, and panchayat ward members D. Deepa, S. Muthulakshmi, E. Elatchiya Veeramani, T. Anjala Devi and S. Kannagi (all belonging to Scheduled Community), T. Radha, S. Tamilarasi, K. Vembu and K. Visalakshi.
