All-party meet discusses bandh plan

Ways to mobilise support from traders and sections figure at the meeting

An all-party meeting held here on Wednesday discussed the plan for April 25 bandh called in support of farmers’ cause in Tiruvannamalai district.

The bandh has been called to express solidarity with the farmers protesting in Delhi. The farmers are demanding waiver of farm loans, linking of rivers, and forming of Cauvery Management Board and so on.

DMK Tiruvannamalai south district secretary E.V. Velu, north district secretary R. Sivanandham, Congress north district president M. Vasantharaj, CPI(M) district secretary M. Sivakumar, State Committee member M. Veerabadhran, VCK district secretary P.K. Elumalai, CPI district secretary K. Jothi, E. Mohammed Ali of IUML, Kalimullah of MMK and representatives of several other smaller parties participated.

DMK MLAs K. Pichandi, M.P. Giri, K.V. Sekaran, and M. Ambedhkumar have participated.

They discussed on how to organise trade unions, traders, and other sections to make the bandh effective.
