N. Suresh Babu alias Pottu Suresh, whose detention under the Goondas Act was quashed recently by the Madras High Court, was released from the Palayamkottai Central Prison on Monday.
Following his arrest in connection with two land grabbing cases, the murder of an auto driver Pandiarajan and a case pertaining to the threatening of a journalist, Pandi, the DMK functionary was arrested under the Goondas Act and lodged in the Palayamkottai Central Prison.
Even as Suresh managed to get bail, the Madurai police slapped the Goondas Act on him. However, the Madras High Court quashed his detention under the Goondas Act, which ensured his release from the prison shortly after noon on Monday.
