Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers M.K. Alagiri met his father and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief M. Karunanidhi on Tuesday.

Both were tight-lipped over the meeting which took place at Mr. Karunanidhi’s Gopalapuram residence in Chennai.

Mr. Alagiri, also party’s south zone organising secretary, flew down from Madurai and evaded reporters at the airport.

Upset over the prominence given to younger sibling Kanimozhi and his being ill at ease in Delhi, Mr. Alagiri had reportedly voiced displeasure and volunteered to quit the Union Cabinet.

Mr. Alagiri was also reportedly agitated over the DMK’s stand on the 2G spectrum issue.

However, Mr. Karunanidhi had sought to scotch the reports of Mr. Alagiri’s resignation, saying, “They are just reports and let them continue to be media reports.”
