The cadre of the All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK) staged a demonstration in front of the Anna statue in the town on Tuesday urging the Central Government to press for an international probe into the war crimes in Sri Lanka.

They also demanded the Centre not to support the resolution being moved by the United State in the United Nations on this issue.

The Centre should respect the sentiments of the people of Tamil Nadu and should not do anything which will go against the interest of Tamils.

Suresh Gandhi, Namakkal district secretary of the All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi led the agitation, which was inaugurated by N. M. S. Vivekanandan, state secretary of the Art and Literary wing of the party.
