A majority of the 94 applications for starting new technical institutions in the State and Puducherry were found defective on scrutiny by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), said P. Mannar Jawahar, AICTE regional chairman.

Dr. Mannar Jawahar said the three-member committees which were scrutinising the applications found a number of them were deficient in providing the required information on land, buildings and faculty. They have been given time till Saturday to bring the required documents in proper order, he said.

Once this scrutiny was completed, the institutions would be required to upload Form B applications on to the AICTE website after which site inspections would be conducted, he added.
