The ruling AIADMK on Saturday made a strong pitch for making Chief Minister Jayalalithaa leader of the nation, saying that only under her rule, India could emerge as a strong nation and superpower.

The party’s executive resolved to win all the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and submit them at her “golden feet.”

“She needs to lead the nation to make the country strong and a superpower and also to ensure that all freebies, being provided to people of Tamil Nadu, be made available for the rest of the country too,” said a resolution adopted at the meeting.

“The Central government is a fountain of corruption and is not able to take any firm decision. It is depriving the State government of rights,” the resolution further said.

A total of 16 resolutions were adopted and 14 resolutions thanked the Chief Minister for various steps taken by her to protect the interests of Tamils and Tamil Nadu.

In her address, the Chief Minister was said to have urged her party members to work together so that the party registered a resounding success in the Lok Sabha polls.

She warned of stringent action against those who indulged in activities that would bring down the image of the party.

As regards the Rajya Sabha elections, she said a clear picture would emerge by June 17 and it would be also known whether there would be any contest.

She also advised party MLAs to keep in touch with the leadership in such an eventuality. The AIADMK has adequate numbers to win four seats but is in need of support of its allies to win the fifth seat. The CPI is also seeking her support for its candidate.

The Manithaneya Makkal Katchi and the Puthiya Tamizhagam have two members each and Forward Bloc one.
