AIADMK nets Rs.11.34 crore from sale of LS applications

In nine days, the AIADMK headquarters received a total of 4,537 applications from candidates seeking tickets to contest in all the Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The cost of each application was Rs. 25,000 and the party collected Rs. 11.34 crore. Of the 4,537 applications, 1,175 were filed by Ministers, MLAs, district secretaries and various office-bearers requesting Chief Minister and party general secretary Jayalalithaa to contest LS constituencies, other than the reserved. A press release from the AIADMK said 1,171 applications were filed on behalf of Ms. Jayalalithaa in Tamil Nadu and four more applications were for Puducherry.

Tamil Nadu Wakf Board chairman Tamilmahan Hussain filed four applications requesting Ms. Jayalalithaa to contest in Central Chennai, Tiruchi, Kanyakumari and Vellore constituencies.
