A day after S. Madheswaran, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) legislator representing the Attur constituency in the Salem district, publicly complained that he was sidelined by the district authorities, party general secretary and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Monday relieved him of the post of Salem rural district unit president of the MGR youth wing.

The 47-year-old defeated S.K. Arthanarai of the Congress by nearly 30,000 votes in the 2011 Assembly elections. The MLA on Sunday at a function in Attur made a complaint in the presence of Highways and Minor Ports Minister Edappadi K. Palanisamy, who also hails from Salem, that the authorities did not consult him before holding the function. Pointing out that he was from a Scheduled Caste community, he had alleged, citing local officials, that it was because of the Minister's instigation that he was being neglected.
