The general council and executive of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) will meet on December 19 at a marriage hall on the outskirts of the city.

Roadmap for LS elections

The meeting is expected to take stock of the AIADMK’s performance.

It will also be an opportunity to prepare the roadmap for the Lok Sabha elections.

E. Madhusudanan, chairman of the presidium of the party, will preside over the meeting, according to a party release issued by general secretary and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

Striving for all

39 LS seats

Ms Jayalalithaa has been urging her party members to strive hard so that the party will win all the 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and the lone seat in Puducherry.

In the general council last year, she had announced that her party would go it alone.

There is expectation that the AIADMK’s high command would spell out the role of the leaders and council members for the Lok Sabha polls.

The AIADMK has been friendly with the Left parties. In the June Rajya Sabha elections, her party supported the candidature of the Communist Party of India (CPI)’s D. Raja. In late October, the AIADMK’s nominee, M. Thambidurai, represented the party at a convention initiated by the CPI (Marxist).
