The two factions of the AIADMK should come together for successfully implementing the schemes the former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s had announced for the State, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami said here on Saturday.

Speaking at a function in Mettupalayam on his way to Coimbatore from Ooty, he said in the run-up to the 2016 Assembly election, Jayalalithaa had announced several schemes. To implement those the AIADMK had to remain in power. And, if the two factions were together, it would be easier implementing the schemes.

Yet another reason for the two factions to come together was to celebrate the birth centenary of the party founder M.G. Ramachandran, Mr. Palaniswami said. He gave away welfare assistance to around 2,000 persons in Mettupalayam.

At the Coimabtore International airport, he responded to a question that he had come to know the reasons for O. Panneerselvam meeting the Prime Minister only from the media.
