Cadres clash

May 10, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - KARUR:

Tension prevailed at Rachandar Thirumalai near Thogamalai on Sunday following clash between the cadres of AIADMK and the DMDK. Sources said that the clash began when a group of DMDK men objected to the canvassing of votes by the AIADMK candidate of Kulithalai constituency R. Chandrasekaran, where the DMDK candidate Jamuna was seeking votes. In the melee, the AIADMK cadres reportedly smashed the windshield of a car of Jamuna. So, the DMDK men lodged a complaint with the Thogamalai police demanding action against those involved in the incident. Since the police refused to accept the complaint, the DMDK men staged a road roko on front of the police station. The protest was withdrawn following the promise that suitable action would be taken against those who attacked the car of Jamuna.
