AIADMK councillor murdered in Rajapalayam

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) councillor of Rajapalayam municipality, P. Meenakshi Sundaram (40), was murdered by an unidentified gang in Rajapalayam on Tuesday morning.

The police said that the AIADMK member, representing ward 17, was attacked by a three-member gang, riding on a motorbike on Rajapalayam-Tenkasi highway, with lethal weapons at around 9.45 a.m. while he was on his way to office. He was killed on the spot, the Inspector of Police, (Rajapalayam North), M. Dinakaran, said.

The police have identified the motorbike with its registration number and are on the lookout for the assailants, he added.

Mr. Meenakshi Sundaram was doing Dates business. The police are investigating the motive and the people behind the murder.  The body has been shifted to the Government hospital in Rajapalayam.
