November 09, 2014 01:19 am | Updated April 09, 2016 09:07 am IST - CHENNAI:

The Madras High Court Advocates’ Association has decided to boycott courts on Monday to condemn the death sentence awarded by a Sri Lankan court to five Tamil Nadu fishermen on the charge of drug trafficking.

The resolution was adopted at the general body meeting here recently. The Centre should take steps to get the fishermen released immediately. The State government should also appoint an advocate to argue the fishermen’s appeal.

The association would provide all legal assistance to the fishermen.

The Women Lawyers’ Association has also announced that its members will boycott courts.
