Prior to holding discussions with her subordinates, ADGP Archana Ramasundaram inspected the accident spot near Padalur where the car in which Mariyam Pichai was travelling rammed a container truck from behind. The case is being investigated by the CB-CID.

The Additional Director General of Police, Crime Branch CID Archana Ramasundaram held discussions with top police officers of the Crime Branch Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) and Central Zone at Perambalur on Wednesday regarding the progress made in the case relating to the death of State Environment Minister N. Mariyam Pichai, who was killed in a road accident near Padalur in Perambalur district a couple of days ago.

The high-level meeting held at the District Police Office in Perambalur was attended by the Inspector General of Police, Central Zone K. Vanniaperumal, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Tiruchi Range A.G. Mourya, Deputy Inspector General of Police, CB-CID Sridhar, Superintendent of Police, CB-CID Rajeswari, and officers of the investigating agency.

The ADGP who had a look at the sketch and photographs was briefed about the items collected as part of the investigation. Later, the ADGP went to the Padalur police station where the car that was completely damaged in the accident had been stationed.

Police sources said Ms. Ramasundaram conducted enquiries with the car driver at Perambalur. Discussions were also held with scientific experts. The sources said efforts were on to trace the missing container truck and its driver.
