Additional support price for paddy

The State government on Friday announced additional support price for paddy above the minimum support fixed by the Centre.

According to an official press release, the Union government fixed the procurement price of common variety at Rs.1,250 per quintal and Rs.1,280 for fine variety. The State government decided to grant an incentive of Rs.50 per quintal for common variety and Rs. 70 per quintal for grade ‘A’ variety paddy during the procurement/ kharif marketing season over and above the minimum support price fixed by the Centre. The procurement price per quintal would be Rs 1,350 for grade ‘A’ or fine variety and Rs 1,300 for common variety during the kharif marketing season 2012-2013.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa also directed the District Collectors to open sufficient procurement centres.
