The Southern Railway has augmented a second sleeper class compartment each in five long distance trains passing via Coimbatore, Erode and Salem on a permanent basis to meet the heavy demand.
The train no. 12647 / 12648 Coimbatore – Hazrat Nizamuddin – Coimbatore Kongu weekly express trains will have a second class sleeper coach from Coimbatore from May 31 and from Hazrat Nizamuddin from June 6; train no.12682 / 12681 Coimbatore – Chennai Central – Coimbatore weekly express trains from Coimbatore from May 29 and from Chennai Central from May 30; train no.12683 / 12684 Ernakulam – Bangalore City – Ernakulam bi-weekly express trains from Ernakulam from June 1 and from Bangalore City from June 2;
train no.16337 / 16338 Okha – Ernakulam – Okha bi-weekly express trains from Ernakulam from May 29 and from Okha from June 1; and train no. 12617/12618 Ernakulam – Hazrat Nizamuddin – Ernakulam Mangala Lakshadweep express trains from Ernakulam from May 29 and from Hazrat Nizamuddin from June 1, according to a release from Salem Railway Division here on Saturday.
