Accident death toll rises to four

Death toll in the accident involving the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus and a lorry at Maaraanthai near here rose to four after a woman teacher succumbed to her injuries on Thursday night.

One of the injured in the accident K. Punitha (47) of Nagercoil, who was working as a teacher in the Government Higher Secondary School at Tenkasi, breathed her last at Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital on Thursday night to take the death toll to four.

Deceased

The other deceased are the bus driver Pon Shanmugakumar (45) of Peththanadarpatti near Paavoorchathram, Valliammal (70) of Kulavanigarpuram in Palayamkottai and lorry driver Mahesh (40) of Rajapalayam.

Head on collision

The TNSTC bus collided head-on with the lorry at Maaraanthai near here on Thursday evening and all the injured were admitted to the Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital.
