Priest’s family meets Swaraj

Family members of Rev. Alexis Premkumar, the Catholic priest from Sivaganga, who was abducted by the Taliban in Afghanistan, met the External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi on Thursday evening and sought his early release.

Ms. Swaraj is believed to have assured the family members on securing the safe release of the Jesuit priest, who was abducted on June 1, sources said from New Delhi late this evening.

The priest's 77-years-old father, A S M Anthony led the family members to meet the Minister. They were accompanied by Rev. Fr. A.M. Jayapathy, Rector, Loyola College, Chennai.
