Meeting after many years and spending three memorable days at Mettupalayam, a few septuagenarians landed here on Monday for sightseeing.

They were part of a 28-member group of retired police officers who had undergone Sub-Inspector training together at the Police Training College in Vellore in 1965. Re-union coordinator R.R. Rajagopalasamy, who had served here about 30 years ago and retired as a Superintendent of Police in Chennai, told The Hindu here on Tuesday that it was a Golden Jubilee meeting.

Stating that they had organised such a get-together for the first time, he said that it gave them an opportunity to catch up on many things and look back with pride at what they had achieved. Out of 59 persons who had been part of the training batch, 10 had retired as Superintendents of Police. Though discussions were mainly on incidents which had stood out in their respective careers, the consensus was on promoting values particularly those relating to religion.
