A pet dog show was organised at Pearl City beach here on Sunday eveningby the Department of Animal Husbandry as part of ‘Kodai Kondattam’.
Thirteen foreign dog breeds displayed their talents on stage and kept the audience spellbound. Responding to the commands of the owners, they showed their skills under various categories such as obedience, fashion show and puppies’ show.
Behavioural traits of each breed were explained to the audience by the organisers.
A panel of veterinary doctors judged the performance of each dog and gave away prizes to the winners.
The three-day ‘Kodai Kondattam’ programme came to a close on Sunday.
A group of professional artistes and students from various educational institutions entertained the audience with their performances.
Collector M. Ravikumar, who presided over the programme, thanked the officials for their cooperation in organising it with the support of Tourism Department.
Joint Director of Animal Husbandry S. Jeyaraman, Project Director of District Rural Development Agency V.R. Veerabathiran, District Designated Officer, Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA), M. Jegadis Chandrabose and others were present.
