The work on strengthening of Kalingarayan Anicut is progressing at a fast pace.

According to Public Work Department sources, the work in progress for strengthening the embankments with concrete and plugging of leakages will be over within the next 10 days.

In deference to the persistent pleas by farmers’ associations and recommendation by the PWD, the State Government had sanctioned Rs. 7.8 crore for strengthening the anaicut constructed more than seven centuries ago. The Department has ensured that the strengthening is carried out without causing any defect to the structural uniqueness of the anaicut, sources added.
