Actor Rajinikanth, who was admitted to Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre here on May 13, was discharged late on Friday evening. Later he boarded a flight to Singapore.

The actor had shown acute symptoms of breathlessness and fever, with background history of initial treatment by his family physicians from March.

Mr. Rajinikanth has received multi-pronged treatment, including admission to the Intensive Care Unit, and ultra-filtration and dialysis procedures. His health has improved with these interventions, and his vital parameters are reported to have returned to normal.

According to a hospital release, the actor is cheerful, taking food himself, is able to move around, and is spending time with family. Further, it said Mr. Rajinikanth had scheduled his trip abroad for a change and relaxation, and for selective checkups.

His wife, Lata Rajinikanth, said he was travelling to Singapore for “treatment and rejuvenation.” She thanked well-wishers for their prayers and good wishes.

The family also released an audio recording of the actor saying he was okay.
