A 74-year-old doctor, Narashimma Reddy, was found murdered in his apartment at Karpagam Gardens in Adyar on Saturday.

Police said the victim was living alone in the first floor of three-storey apartment on 2nd Main Road of Karpagam Gardens. As he did not come for his regular walk on Saturday morning, a neighbour looked into the flat through a window and found Dr. Reddy lying in a pool of blood.

On information, the Shastri Nagar police rushed to the spot and entered the house after breaking open the door. The body bore several injuries.

Police suspect that the murderer might have climbed on to the balcony of the first floor and entered the house by breaking open the window. After murdering Dr. Reddy, the suspect had sprinkled chilly powder on the floor and fled.
