92 per cent of family cards linked with phone numbers

Of the 4,60,343 family cards in the district, mobile phone numbers of 4,21,903 card holders had been linked and fed into the point of sale devices, Collector M. Ravikumar said here on Monday.

Efforts were in progress to link mobile phone numbers of the remaining 38,440 card holders.

With this process, the district had completed 92 percent of the exercise. As for linking of Aadhaar unique identity numbers in such devices, he said about 75 percent of works had been completed, he said while talking to reporters here.

As many as 32,000 family cards had no record of commodities received from fair price shops in the last three months and moreover these cards had no mobile phone numbers and Aadhaar details.

Special drive

A special drive would be conducted to check these card holders.

On the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee programme, he said of the 3.30 lakh beneficiaries, one lakh were yet to link their Aadhaar UID numbers with their bank accounts. About 50 per cent of the 17,000 self-help groups had not linked their Aadhaar details with their bank accounts yet.

A special camp to link Aadhaar card details with their bank accounts would be organised on December 2, the Collector said. District Revenue Officer Rasaiah and District Supply Officer R. Chezhian were present.
