The Sankara Mutt, Kancheepuram is planning to conduct the marriage of 81 poor couples free of cost at the Mutt on June 12 in connection with the 81st Jayanthi (birth anniversary) of Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal, Head of the Mutt. This event would be in addition to other welfare schemes which will be introduced.
A.C. Narasimhan, general secretary of the South Indian Purohits Association and media coordinator of the Mutt said in a release thatgold `thali worth Rs.40,000, new dhoti and sari, and other marriage materials would be gifted to each couple.
