Seventy-one tonnes of Amma cement (1,420 bags) have been sold in Nagapattinam district so far out of the total stock of 245 tonnes.
Amma cement is being sold through the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC) godowns at Nagapattinam, Keelvelur, Vedaranyam, Siddarkadu in Mayiladuthurai taluk and Akkur in Tharangampadi taluk.
Besides, it is sold from godowns at Keelaiyur, Thirumarugal, Thalaignayar, Mayiladuthurai, Kuttalam, Sembanarkoil, Sirkali and Kollidam.
Collector S. Palanisamy inspected the sale of cement at TNCSC godown at Nagapattinam on Thursday. He said that Amma cement is sold at Rs.190 a bag.
Those who construct houses on not more than 1500 sq. ft. can purchase the cement.
People can purchase 250 bags for taking up construction on 500 sq. ft., 500 bags for construction on area between 501 and 1000 sq. ft., and 750 bags for construction on area between 1000 and 1500 sq. ft.
People can submit the building plan approval or certificate from Village Administrative Officer, Revenue Inspector, panchayat union officers, and get the cement at the godowns.
Those who construct houses under Chief Minister’s solar powered green house scheme and Indra Awaz Yojana can also purchase the cement.
For repair of houses, a minimum 10 bags to a maximum of 100 bags will be supplied.
