Funds to be raised to build world-class trauma centre on CMC’s new campus

VELLORE: It will be a musical treat at Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, on Thursday as the institute will play host to seventy professional musicians from Gothenburg, Sweden, and Bangalore School of Music Choir. This is to raise funds to build a world-class Trauma Centre on CMC’s new campus at Kannigapuram.

The Ida Scudder Memorial Concert 2017 is being presented by CMC’s MBBS alumni batch of 1957. The alumni are in Vellore to celebrate the 60th anniversary of commencing their undergraduate studies in Vellore, according to a press release.

The Gothenburg Chamber Orchestra from Sweden consists of strings, brass/woodwinds, piano and percussion. Their varied repertoire consists of melodies such as classical waltz, tango music and American evergreens as well as contemporary film music and musical instrumentals. Another group – The Moving Big Band from Gothenburg - specialises in big band jazz tunes and Latin and Afro-Cuban jazz.

The Bangalore School of Music and Fine Arts has a number of chamber orchestras and vocal groups and are sending the Bangalore School of Music Choir for the musical evening, the release said.

CMC is using this concert to launch a fundraising campaign to enable it to build a trauma centre at Kannigapuram. The music concert will start at 6 p.m. at the Scudder Auditorium. For more information and passes, contact phone – 0416-3073509.
