The Tamil Nadu government has sanctioned Rs. 6.86 crore for completing work on the dome of the secretariat-turned-multi-speciality hospital in Chennai. According to an official release issued on Tuesday, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has given directions on completing the dome with a provision for natural lighting.
A temporary dome, constructed at a cost of Rs 3 crore during the inauguration of the complex in March 2010 had been dismantled by the previous government.
Pointing out that work was underway to house the proposed hospital, the release stated that an amount of Rs. 26.93 crore had been sanctioned towards the civil work. Rs. 76.04 crore had been set apart for buying medical equipment and furniture.
The government has also sanctioned Rs. 2 crore for mosquito eradication measures, the release added.
