Flying squad officials seized 500 numbers of toy “electronic voting machines” that carried the name and symbol of Tiruvarur AIADMK candidate near here on Friday.
A team of flying squad officials led by Vincent were checking vehicles near Poondi in Thanjavur district when they saw a mini truck transporting a consignment of 500 toy “electronic voting machines” that carried only the name and symbol of the Tiruvarur AIADMK candidate R. Panneerselvam on it. If the button against the name is pressed, an LED came alive to show that the ``vote'' has been cast.
The consignment was being transported from Omalur in Salem district to Tiruvarur when the vehicle along with it was seized.
The driver of the vehicle Murugesan was arrested.
