February 11, 2013 02:33 pm | Updated 02:33 pm IST - VIRUDHUNAGAR:

Unidentified miscreants decamped with gold jewels weighing about 50 sovereigns from a locked house in Rajapalayam on Sunday.

Police said that Satya (24), wife of Rajesh of Kalangaperi Road, Venkatraman Nagar, had locked her house and gone to her mother’s house elsewhere in the town. Her husband is employed in the Gulf and that she lived with her in-laws. Since her father-in-law Ramachandra Raja had gone to see his younger son living in Gujarat a couple of days back, Satya had locked the house and went to her mother’s house.

During this period, robbers gained entry into the house and escaped with the valuables. Rajapalayam South police are investigating.
