The size of the electorate in Tamil Nadu stands at 5.14 crore, according to the draft electoral rolls published by the Election Commission.

This is about two lakh less than the 5.16 crore recorded in the previous rolls.

A press note from the State’s Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Kumar stated that the continuous revision period from January 10 (since the publication of the 2013 electoral rolls) to September 30 featured 2.40 lakh inclusions and 4.10 lakh deletions on account of death, shifting or duplicate entries.

The State sustains a healthy split between the number of men and women voters with the draft electoral rolls published on October 1, putting the men voters at 2.58 crore and women at 2.56 crore with 2,421 classified as ‘Others [transgender]’.

The electoral roll sex ratio is 994 as against the population sex ratio of 995. The Electors to Population ratio is 69 per cent.

The draft rolls would be available at the designated locations, mostly polling stations which are accommodated at school buildings.

Apart from posting the rolls on the website >http://elections.tn.gov.in , copies have been handed over to the recognised political parties by the District Election Officers.
