48 free medical camps planned

A total of 48 free medical camps will be conducted in the Salem city limits every month under the National Urban Health Scheme, said S. Soundappan, Mayor.

Inaugurating a medical screening camp organised by the Salem Corporation at Kondalampatti Corporation Middle School in the city on Friday, Mr. Soundappan said that three camps will be conducted at each of the 16 primary health centre every month.

Priority will be accorded to women.

Mr. Soundappan said that funds have been allotted to renovate the 10 urban primary health centres, and news buildings for six urban PHCs.

K.R. Selvaraj, Corporation Commissioner, Selvakumar, City Health Officer, and other officials were present.

A team of six doctors and paramedical staff from the corporation medical unit screened the people at the camp.

Nilavembu kashayam, for preventing dengue, was distributed to all the people at the camp.
