40 injured in 'jallikattu' near Tiruchi

Forty persons were injured in the ‘jallikattu' held at Navalurkuttapattu near here on Sunday. While 31 persons were treated at the venue itself, the rest have been admitted to the Government Hospital, Tiruchi.

Over 300 police personnel from Tiruchi and neighbouring districts were on bandobust duty at the venue. Revenue officials, medical teams and officials from the Animal Husbandry Department were also present. The jallikattu was held after obtaining permission from the District Collector.
