Four persons, including three passengers and the driver of a tanker lorry, were killed on the spot and ten others injured when a bus and the tanker lorry collided at Elambalur village near here on Wednesday.

The incident happened when the air-conditioned bus coming from Chennai to Tiruchi went out of control and hit the Ulundrpet-bound tanker carrying diesel. The dead were identified as S. Selvaraj (41) of Ottanchathiram, his son S. Naveen Kumar (14) and M. Satthan (35) of Aranthangi – all bus passengers, S. Sivakumar (40), tanker lorry driver. Police officials led by Magesh, Superintendent of Police and Fire and Rescue personnel rushed to the spot. The injured, including Thiyagarajan (54) bus driver and A. Suresh (36) conductor were admitted to the Government Headquarters Hospital.
