300 cases settled in Lok Adalat

A total of 300 cases were settled and a sum of Rs. 5.68 crore was disbursed during the National Lok Adalat held on the district court premises here on Saturday.

The Lok Adalat was organised by the Salem District Legal Services Authority. N. Seshasayee, Principal District and Sessions Judge and president of the District Legal Services Authority, inaugurated the Adalat.

As many as 2,949 cases were taken up for hearing by the members of three different benches, each comprising a judge, advocate and social worker, of which 300 cases were settled.

V. Ravichandran, Sub-Judge and secretary of the District Legal Services Authority and other judicial officers participated in the Adalat.

Namakkal

A total of 153 motor accident cases, civil cases and bank cases were settled at the Lok Adalat organised by the Namakkal District Legal Services Authority on the district court premises here on Saturday. The cases were settled for a total sum of Rs. 3.40 crore. As many as 723 cases were taken up for hearing, sources said.

S. Ramathilagam, Principal District and Sessions Judge, inaugurated the Adalat in the presence of Pari, Sub-Judge and secretary of the District Legal Services Authority.
