Three students pursuing Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) through correspondence with the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) were arrested for faking the rubber stamps of a government high school in Dharmapuri district on Friday.
Police sources said N. Annadurai (32) of Kundalpatti, R. Mayakkannan (32) of K. Agraharam, Thiruvonampattti village near Harur, and M. Kaveri (32) of Thandukaranpatti village were arrested on charges of making fake rubber stamps of the headmaster of the school at Eechambadi in Dharmapuri district on Thursday afternoon near near Adhiyamaankottan.
On suspicion over their behaviour, the village administrative officer of Madhemangalam informed the Adhiyamaankottam police station.
The arrested students confessed to the police that they had faked internship certificates to show that they had completed their work experience at the school.
A case had been registered under sections 464, 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), 471 (using forged documents as genuine) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code. The three were produced before a local magistrate who remanded them in judicial custody.
