The 2G spectrum scam involving former Telecom Minister and DMK leader A Raja had ’spoiled’ the name of the Congress party, Union Minister E M Sudharsana Natchiappan said on Monday.

“The name of Congress was spoiled due to the 2G spectrum scam, involving former DMK minister and Nilgiris (SC) constituency candidate Raja,” he told reporters here.

Mr. Natchiappan claimed it was Mr. Raja who was solely responsible for the scam and not the Prime Minister or Finance Minister as was being made out, as the telecom portfolio was solely handled by him.

Referring to the April 24 Lok Sabha polls in Tamil Nadu, the Minister of State for Commerce and Industry said the Sri Lankan Tamils and fishermen issues would not have any impact in the elections.

Mr. Modi’s meeting with actor Rajnikanth on Sunday was an attempt by the saffron party to create an artificial “non-existent” wave, he claimed adding that there was no Modi wave in Tamil Nadu.

On prospects of Congress in Tamil Nadu, he exuded confidence that they would win 20 seats and that a Government under Rahul Gandhi would be formed at the Centre.
