250 MW NLC unit will go on stream this month

Trial run of the 250-MW unit of the Thermal Power Station II Expansion of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation is on and it will be formally commissioned this month.

Once the unit goes on stream, the total power generating capacity of the NLC will go up to 2,990 MW, according to a statement from the corporation. It stated that the Tuticorin power project too was under implementation.

The NLC was forging ahead on all fronts and, with its expansion activities, is poised for substantial growth in the years to come.

The corporation’s net sales for the first half-year of 2012-2013 (from April to September 2012) stood at Rs. 2,681.02 crore as compared to Rs. 2,310.94 crore for the same period in the previous year, registering a growth of 16 per cent, the statement said. The NLC’s profit after tax stood at Rs. 623.31 crore for the first half-year of 2012-2013.
