Twenty-four members of Akil Bharat Hindu Maha Sabha were arrested in the city on Tuesday when they attempted to burn Dravidar Kazhagam leader Veeramani in effigy flaying his views on ‘Thaali’. The protesters who raised slogans demanding stringent action against the DK leader for “hurting Hindu sentiments” were rounded up at two spots - Veerappanchathiram Bus Stop and Swasthik Corner. All the arrested persons were released later in the day.
