24 candidates file papers in Kanyakumari district

As many as 24 candidates filed their nomination papers for the six Assembly constituencies in the district on Thursday. All the six All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidates, including former Ministers N. Thalavai Sundaram, K.T. Pachaimal and K.P. Rajendra Prasad, and sitting Nagercoil MLA A. Murugesan, filed their nominations with the respective Returning Officers between 12.50 p.m. and 1.20 p.m.

N. Thalavai Sundaram filed his nomination papers with Kanyakumari Returning Officer at Boothapandi. P. Thambi Thangam, Agasteeswaram AIADMK union secretary, filed nomination as his dummy candidate. Other candidates who filed nominations in Kanyakumari are V. Vetri Velayutha Perumal of Akila Bharatha Hindu Maha Sabha and S. Chockalingam of the Bharatiya Janata Party, as dummy candidate for M. Meena Dev.

Mr. Pachaimal filed his nomination with Colachel Returning Officer at Kurunthancode panchayat union office. M. Nelson of the AIADMK filed nomination as the dummy candidate.

R. Sampath Chandra of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra K, A. Arulraja Rockrai of Aam Aadmi Party and Independent candidate M. Christopher filed nominations.

Mr. Rajendra Prasad filed his nomination with Padmanabhapuram Sub-Collector Shreya P. Singh. S. Alphonse of the AIADMK filed his nomination as the dummy candidate.

Vilavancode AIADMK candidate G. Dominic Savio George and his dummy candidate G. Devadas filed their nomination papers. P. Manikandan of the Naam Tamilar Katchi and I. Wilson of Vazhamana Tamilaga Katchi also filed their nominations.

Killiyoor AIADMK candidate A. Mary Kamala Bai and her dummy candidate N. Sree Mahesh filed their nomination papers.

The Congress candidate for Killiyoor constituency, S. Rajesh Kumar, filed his nomination with Returning Officer Kalimuthu at Killiyoor panchayat union office. Congress dummy candidate S. Jain Mary also filed his nomination.

G. Rethnammal filed his nomination as Naam Tamilar Katchi candidate.

Sitting AIADMK MLA A. Murugesan and his dummy A. Thanga Devika filed their nominations. It was his 50th nomination for Independent candidate U. Nagoor Meeran Peer Mohammed who filed his papers on Thursday. He had filed nominations against veterans in different constituencies in the previous elections. He was expected to file another nomination for R.K. Nagar constituency in Chennai on Friday.

S. Suresh of Tamizhaga Vaalvurimai Katchi also filed his nomination papers with Returning Officer and RDO S. Madhiyazhagan.
