220 differently-abled candidates appear for special TNTET exam

Of the 233 differently-abled candidates who had applied for the Special Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) Paper II conducted by the Teachers Recruitment Board in Vellore district for recruitment of graduate teachers in high/higher secondary schools in the State, 220 appeared for the exam held at the Voorhees Higher Secondary School here on Wednesday.

P. Subramani, Chief Education Officer, Vellore, who monitored the exam, told The Hindu that of the 194 orthopaedically-challenged candidates, 181 appeared for the exam. Thirty-nine visually challenged candidates wrote the exam with the help of scribes. There were only 13 absentees. The exam was based on the OMR (optical mark reading) model.

One of the orthopaedically challenged candidates wrote the exam with her leg.
