: Twenty two candidates filed their nominations for seven constituencies in Thanjavur district. No nomination was received on Wednesday for the Pattukottai constituency.
V. Jeevakumar, CPI, and S.Simiyon Xavier Raj of the IJK filed their nominations for Thiruvaiyaru constituency while P.Ramanathan of the DMDK filed his papers for Orathanadu constituency. T.Thamayanthi of the CPI filed her papers for Peravoorani constituency. V.Jeyaprakash of the DMDK, G.Kunchithapatham of PMK and A.Nalladurai of Naam Tamizhaar Katchi were among those who field their papers for Thanjavur constituency. S.Vasudevan of the BJP and A.Madhan of Bahujan Samaj party filed their papers for Thiruvidaimarudur constituency.
Tiruvarur
The CPI candidate for the Tiruvarur Assembly constituency, P.S.Masilamani, filed his nomination papers on Wednesday. Mr. Masilamani, who would take on DMK president M.Karunanidhi on behalf of the DMDK-led People’s Welfare Front, filed his nomination papers before R.Muthumeenakshi, the Returning Officer.
R.Sivakumar of the PMK also filed his papers for the constituency.
The CPI candidate for the Thiruthuraipoondi constituency K.Ulaganathan and the DMK candidate for Mannargudi constituency T.R.B.Raaja also filed their nominations during the day.
Pudukottai
Twenty-one nominations were received for the five constituencies in Pudukottai district on Wednesday. N. Jahir Hussain, DMDK, C. Vellaisamy, PMK, A. Radhakrishnan and K. Muthaiya, Independents, were among those who filed their nominations for Pudukottai constituency.
R. Karthikeyan, DMDK, and C. Muthukumar, IJK, for Viralimalai, M. Chinnadurai, CPI (M) and C. Mohanraj, Naam Tamizhar Katchi, for Gandharvakottai; P. Loganathan CPI, K. Selvam, PMK and M. Kulam Mohamed, SDPI, for Aranthangi and D. Duraikala of Naam Tamizhar Katchi for Alangudi, were the other nominations received in the district.
Nagapattinam
In Nagapattinam district, V.P.Nagaimaali, the CPI (Marxist) candidate filed his papers for Keelvelur constituency. A. Mohamed Jafarullah, Manitha Neya Makkal Katchi, A. Balraj, PMK and V. Kulothungan and N. D. Bhaskaran, Independents filed their nominations for Nagapattinam constituency.
Pon. Muthukumar,PMK, and M.R.S. Elavazhagan, BJP, filed their nomination for Sirkali constituency while R. Arulselvan, DMDK, and R. Mathan Mohan ,Independent, filed their papers for Mayiladuthurai. Su. Kaliyaperumal of Naam Tamizhar Katchi and T. Elanchezhiyan of BSP filed their papers for Poompuhar.
Karur
As many as 20 candidates filed their nominations for four constituencies in the district on Wednesday. While Aravakurichi received four nomination papers, five nominations were filed for Karur constituency. Krishnarayapuram and Kulithalai constituencies received three and four nominations respectively. A. Ravi of DMDK and M. Shanmugam of KMDK filed their papers for Karur constituency.
K. Sivanandham of Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) and M. Pandiyan of PMK were among those filed for Krishanaryapuram constituency.
DMK candidate I. Ramar and I. Jamuna of DMDK were among those who filed their nominations for the Kulithalai constituency.
Perambalur
DMDK candidates filed their nominations in Perambalur and Ariyalur districts on Wednesday. K. Rajendran, the DMDK nominee for Perambalur (Reserved) constituency submitted his papers to the Returning Officer and Revenue Divisional Officer R. Baby. Gunasekaran of the Nationalist Congress Party also filed his papers for the Perambalur seat.
For the Kunnam constituency in Perambalur district, Arul of Naam Tamizhar Katchi filed his papers. R. Jayavel of DMDK filed his papers for Ariyalur assembly constituency.
